Archive for March, 2014

Even if the day is beautiful, the sun has been wonderful with a blue sky, at least until it clouded over and here I sit with tears in my eyes and trying to make things work today. As usual, but for most of you it’s an ordinary day, for me it would have been a day for celebrating my husbands 47th birthday. Tomorrow it will be three years since my dad died so this is not one of my best days to put it simple.

A friend of mine listened to this song by Queen and it was lots of memories moving around, and not only parts of the movie Highlander. Well, I’m not in the mood to write any more this time since it wont be any fun or uplifting.

Happy Birthday love, we still miss you.

Eostre, Spring or Vernal Equinox, whatever name we care to designate to it, it’s all the same day we are talking about. The day where day and night is equal and it is officially spring, or so they say. In the southern hemisphere it is time for Mabon, somewhat confusing for those who are beginners I can imagine. Here in Sweden it was yesterday so I wish everyone a little late Blessed Spring Equinox and hope everyone is having a wonderful time, at least finding a moment or two in their minds to celebrate it. The day started out with lovely weather here, sunshine, blue skies, cold and some winds but fantastic day. Until it turned towards afternoon then it started to be more grey and snow. Today there is lots of snow again, but it’s our usual March-April weather so I’m not surprised, even if they say spring is 6 weeks early doesn’t say that all the snow and ice will be gone.

So yesterday wasn’t much time to do anything about celebrating really, mostly in my mind and feeling that joy and pleasure in knowing that not to far off there will be the first flowers along a warm wall and snow that thaws from the roofs and water running everywhere. But finally when daughter had fallen asleep I could at least do a spread for Ostara and for some reason Tarot of the Sidhe insisted on being the designated deck for the evening so it was just accepting it and see what would happen. I had to wait until today with a photo to have some better light.

The spread I use come from Cosmic Faery’s Tarot Journal and I found it perfect with only three cards when time had run away and I didn’t want to spend an hour or two with interpretations. Would have loved to use James Well’s pdf-book Tarot Circle Encounters, but it was a little late so I might try that one today instead, and there is all the other times during this year when it is possible to try one of the circle spreads out, and maybe even have some tarot people around to do it with? Hm, back to where I was about to go.

So these are the cards I got and how I was interpreting them at the moment:

Ostara Spread 2014

Ostara Spread 2014

1. What are the seeds that I’m sowing?
The energies you are releasing that you might not be aware of. Whatever you’re doing at the moment (especially unconsciously), what effect may it have?

Maker Four (4 of Pentacles) – The Greedy Tree
The energy I’m releasing, or should release (and have you any idea of how hard it is to write with a cat demanding your attention while you try to do this?) is that greed, or a little more precise, the thought that we need so many things, material things. Well, some we actually do need, but others we would probably survive without if we really tried. But there are some rays of light (insight) coming down through the branches after all so I will come to some insight after all. And perhaps find some inner balance that will help me out too.

2. What seedlings are emerging around me?
What is already developing around you that you may not be aware of? A project you recently started, or a goal you’ve set yourself, what is emerging from it so far?

Warrior Nine (9 of Wands) – Guardian
Fitting enough this figure is surrounded by a circle of ice, her wings are in colors of warmth and she is carrying three candles on her head so return of light and warmth. No particular goals or projects going on really, not that I consider to be at least. But it feels like with this returning light and warmth I will find new interesting things that is making me want to go outside more, finding colors, triggering my curiosity for knowledge, finding new ways, going back to things I’ve done before but given up on.

3. What do I need to focus on until the Summer Solstice?
A task you need to carry out, a skill you need to acquire, or anything you need to pay attention to that will help you achieve your goal.

The Dancer – Water (Ace of Cups)
Balancing on a pillar of water that emerges from a sphere of water sort of… could be interesting. It looks like a cup turned upside down and the fluid inside is pouring out but refusing to obey physical laws and starting to go upwards. Time to listen to my intuition, my feelings, what I know will make me happy and enjoy life more. My intuition needs a new boost so start listening to whatever messages is coming during this time. There will probably come something that could be surprising, but not so much really, because I already know even if it’s not on a conscious level just yet. Feels like someone is playing hide and seek with me in the corner of my mental eyes and giggling at me while I try to find out where they are and what they are doing. Or want me to do.

I found some other spreads too if you would like to try out something else, Gaian Soul, Indigo Spirit Tarot, This Game of Thrones, Tarot Translator, Tarot by Arwen, and a final one, Tarot Notes. They are all spreads for Ostara so find out which one you would like to try and see how it goes.

Here are some photos from Monday this week when it actually looked like spring, today is a completely different scenery. And some photos of the cat for those who would like to see what he looks like now.

Huh? What are she up to now? Nothing in particular, just having a hard time choosing what to write about, and yes I know I’ve been away for a long time again. Some day I might be like some other people who does this thing every day or at least a couple a times a week, maybe. But I seem to be the one who writes when I find inspiration and not just put something down because I should do something. Maybe I could start having a subject a couple a days a week or month and work from it there, or following the phases of the moon and the Wheel of the Year? But that wasn’t was I was thinking about.

Tarot yelling at you

Tarot yelling at you

To make it simple I’ll go with the order I stated in my headline. Tarot that is. It comes from Donnaleigh and it did make me laugh, and probably will make some other tarot geeks do too. We’ve been there at least once in our career with our cards, trust me, and some have been there more than once. But it is true, and mind you, I’m not saying that the cards actually do it, but some part of our mind, higher power, guides or whatever we like to prescribe it to. The message we get is usually something in the line of “I have already told you this, several times in fact” or “The answer is still…” or yet another one where you get the answer you wished for when you did the fifth spread with the same question in the same day… but you know inside that this isn’t the answer you started with, this is the answer you want to have because you don’t want to hear the truth. I still laugh at this strip because I’ve been there and having friends who has been there. Sometimes I think I’ve heard the deck or whatever you designate as the giver of answers, draw a deep sigh, shake its head and groan.

Making a jump over to Celeste, and that being Celeste Heldstab the author of The Complete Formula of Magical Oils, The Kitchen Grimoire and owner of The Bayou Witch Incense – Where Magic Make Scents store, for those in the US go take a look and I promise you that what she does is lovely! And for the others of us, look it up on FB if you are there and here is what I wrote about it earlier in a post in 2012 about Magical Oils. But that wasn’t what I was going to say really. She has some wonderful messages coming now and then on her personal page and this was one of the latest:

“Rather than being hard on yourself for not having accomplished more, spend a moment congratulating yourself on how far you have come and how much you have already accomplished. Give yourself reasons why it may be perfect to be where you are today, rather than criticizing yourself because you have not done more. Focus on all you are doing and learning that is preparing you to have more. Acquiring the skill of talking positively to yourself will help you develop inner strength and trust to take the actions you will need to take as you follow your path.”

So, there is Celeste, so what now? Magic(k) with our without a k in the end. In this language magic is spelled with a k in the end by those who try to make a difference between magic performed by illusionist and magic used for accomplishing different goals. I don’t know if it is necessary and in my language there is no use writing with a k in the end since our word is ‘magi’ so putting the k in the end would look very strange. But I don’t care, as long as everyone is happy and know what kind of magic they are talking about it is all fine by me. The things I feel are more important is why and for what you want to do the magic in question. Something that is well worth thinking about is the words: Be careful what you wish for, you might have it. That is about what I was thinking about magic today. And these two things below, can be wise to think about them before you run off and do something you regret later since it didn’t turn out the way you intended. And yes, I do know that not everyone follow the rule of three, I’m not sure I do myself either, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking things through before I try my hands and mind at magic. And that I can add, is very seldom if ever. I have tried doing magic earlier in my life with more or less success but today I’m a little more practical, I usually light a candle and think about what it is I want to accomplish and if it is a suitable phase of the moon and that is about it. A kind of magic too I admit, but not all the stuff with candle and candle colors, incense, things on the altar, scraps of paper and whatever else can be seen as absolutely necessary for a successful magical ritual.
