Well, this time I’m doing this in a document and then pasting the whole thing into this blog, not going to re-write the whole thing later!

Most of us have probably noticed that the world is going crazy, more than usual these last few years. I don’t know what is going on all the time and at the same time it makes me scared and making thoughts bounce around about what will happen, how I’m going to deal with it and how I will protect the ones I love and hold dear.

People look sidelong at people and occurrences not fitting their idea of how things should be. Beggars, people running for their lives and all the other stuff going on. All of a sudden it’s a bunch of me and them attitudes and accusing people of being racists and what not even if they only express their questions of what is going on or what is happening?! And those ”sneaky” comments that starts out with, ”I’m not a racist, but…” and then they express something that is clearly racist, or so stupid that you wonder where they came from, or if someone dropped them on their head one time too much as a baby.

All this is making me think of witch hunts in some ways, we start expressing opinions about those who are not like us, or isn’t fitting our idea of how things should be, and that is a very dangerous path to go. My personal thinking here, so if you have another opinion it’s me you should talk to, and keep it civil and explain why you think that I’m wrong or whatever it is you want to have said. But it is scary, because sometimes things like these tend to spread to other things that doesn’t fit your idea of what is appropriate and ”right”. Living in the right places, wearing the right kind of clothes might not be the things I think about, more like sexual or religious orientations, political views and such. So far it’s those ”muslims” like all of them are running around trying to kill or convert everyone else, or those ”beggars” who are trying to make a living somewhere and somehow, homeless people, mentally ill… the list goes on. Some political parties are really scary if you look into what they think and want to do if they get the power to do it.

Theresa Reed wrote something on October 10th that really put things in words for me. Most of the things happening today has its root in fear, that fear that raises it’s ugly head now and then and makes people go completely nuts, even those you think are the most stable and sensible people you know on this planet. Oh yes, I’m scared of things that I can’t control also, but I try to keep it under control anyways and think before I speak out. I might see someone who acts really weird but are they drunk, having an injury of some sort that makes them behave that way or something else? Same as some people acts really snippy or snarky and you raise your eyebrows and wonder what gave them the right to snap at you for just asking a polite question. Maybe they are having a bad day, but it doesn’t always excuse the behaviour just because. It’s if I would let my daughter get away with things just because I know she’s tired and hungry, it’s not ok anyway. But I do know that there is something we can do about those particular problems. And that reminds me that in a little while that special person will come tumbling inside and tell me how her day has been and what’s for dinner. Better start on it… one thing less that will create a situation that could easily be avoided.

I know, weird headline, and I have to write this all over again because something happened and I lost all that I had written already, was just going to edit, and of course I hadn’t saved it either…

Front Rider Waite

Front Rider Waite

So the weekend has been intense with daughters birthday party and all, so when she had gone to sleep yesterday I was reading The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan (same author as for the Percy Jackson books and movie if you are familiar with those). All of a sudden I start thinking of when I met, and listened, to James Wanless at SF Bats in 2007. He talked among other things of a different way of doing a spread. Instead of the usual way you thought about the question, looked through the deck and picked out the cards you feel relates to it. Look at those cards, remember what they are (3-5 cards I think he said was a good number), and then you put them back in and start shuffling. Now over to the next step, and what got me thinking about front or back. I would like to remember front, that instead of starting to deal the cards out in a usual spread, you take one card at a time from the bottom and face up and go on until you reach the first of the cards you picked in the beginning. The idea is that all the cards that goes before are things you have to deal with in one way or another before you get to what you asked for. For example, you ask about money and cards like King of Pentacles or 9 of Pentacles might be interesting, then you deal the cards until one of those show up. And sometimes it will be few cards and at others it might be almost the whole deck.

I had to go into the living room to find my diary to find out about this, but I hadn’t written it down if you went from the top or bottom of the deck so I’ll go with the bottom. Another thing I found with this back and front was the day after Bats when we visited the Tarot Salon. Lots of people that day too, and among them Dan Pelletier from Tarot Garden. He had a bag of cards that we were going to grab one card from and then pair up with someone. I ended up with Pamela Eakins, creator of Tarot of the Spirit with Joyce Eakins. Now we were going to interpret the card we held in our hands to the other one – but not the front. We were going to use the back of the cards. Nerves skipping around the whole place, me a total stranger and her being a creator of a tarot deck! It went well, haltingly, but well.

It was great fun to read the diary and remember the places and the people. Los Angeles, Jeannie, The Bodhi Tree, Kira, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Fransisco, Golden Gate Park, Mary K Greer, Thalassa, Julie Cuccia Watts, Joanna Powell Colbert and so many others. Not to mention all the interesting places to find this and that from books to tarot, pagan stuff and all the other things. Oh for a time machine and a lot of money, and a way to get it all home. One day perhaps I will be able to go back and meet with some places and people again, hopefully with daughter along.

Now it’s time to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the day, dealing with some necessary stuff.

Just to continue that idea I had about having my photos once a month, here are September. It’s been a good one mostly, weather is always a little on and off this time of year and the first colds are making its way through school and families. I know, my own darling shared hers with me, lovingly and generously just the way she is. But I do feel that this one she could have given to someone else really. Besides that we’ve been to that baptizing and it was great to see all the people that we haven’t seen for some time now. The only thing that was really tiresome was the traveling, about six hours each way, and even if we do stop to stretch our legs and get something to eat, my body has some very firm ideas about it. Not like. We were back home around midnight and I promise, we slept very well shortly after we arrived home and the cat got some attention too. We had after all been away since around 5.30am that morning. But here are some photos and I do believe some are daughters even if I don’t remember which ones exactly. One is the strange one with the cat, must have been some reflection from the window or something in that way. Hope you enjoy these.
