Yes, I watch those from time to time, at least when time allows. That doesn’t mean that I accept everything they say and do without questioning. I wrote about that in an earlier post back in 2014, Paranormal, by the way. There are those that are good, but also those who has a reputation that is somewhat tainted. I was reminded of that now that a tv-channel here in Sweden started to run the new episodes of Most Haunted. It has run previous years but then it ended, but before that there was some things appearing that indicated, or they said to have proof of, that some things wasn’t right and that the incredible amount of paranormal happenings could have some help that wasn’t caught by the camera. Sure, it is interesting when things go bump and things happens, but you have to be a little logical and have a fair share of common sense and skepticism too. Like old houses for instance, if it is timber you have to take into account that temperatures and humidity can make them “talk” and it can really go bang. It can happen with stone and concrete too I’ve noticed during the years. Then there are a lot of other things to add to this picture, how you move, what is moving outside or something reflects in a window or cast a shadow that you didn’t think about. So just to take this new part of Most Haunted as an example there was a lot of known faces, but somewhat older then, and then some new. One was some kind of host for a show that I guess wasn’t unknown for the British viewers, he was there as a skeptic and the logical side. A demonologist that I can’t remember the name of right now, but he is well known in those parts. Then there was one who represented the “hysterical lady”, the one who screams as soon as she even thought something could be a sound or a “ghost”. And wanted to get the flashlight lit for even the smallest thing. I usually try to avoid being judgemental or have a preconceived idea about people if I can avoid it, but this lady gave the “dumb blonde” a new meaning… I’m sorry Leah, or whatever your name was, but I hope you are an actress who got paid to act like a goose (sorry to the geese too) and scream hysterically as soon as it was even a possibility of a sound or movement.

The place was in Wales, The Tivoli Venue, and had some bad history in it’s past. It had been a fire there sometime during the 1940’s and at least one person died. No nice death, and there were still a lot of places damaged and not done anything about , just renovating the parts where they ran a bar and some other things. It was said that several people haunted the place. There was a whistle that could be heard, and it was said to be a ghost, but since that couldn’t be proved it could just as well be someone from the team that stood there, just like other things that just as well could be created by real people and not a spirit. One of the guys, Stuart, was very emotional and went outside for a while, and when he returns we are finally told that he had heard a voice telling him to get out of there or he would die. Sure, it could have been a ghost/spirit, but maybe not meant as Stuart would actually die, but since others had died it could have been the memories of this spirit, or an emotion, that was expressed. It was said somewhere during the program that it had been a place for gallows not far from there before this building was built, so there could be a lot “stored” there. He later went into the mens room by himself with a camera to shoot. There it was a faucet going off by itself and also a hand dryer that went off twice. At first I thought that the hand dryer was one of those going off with some form of sensor, but it was clearly too old for that kind of technical stuff, but something made it go off and even if it is a technical glitch I can understand that someone who sits there alone in the dark is jumping out of his skin when that thing starts behind your back!

Well, I’m going to watch the coming shows and see what happens, if nothing else I’ll get a good laugh out of it because of their hysterical screaming and their conviction that the slightest sound is a haunting.

I should probably write about Lucia instead, since it is the day for it. But I don’t feel like it so head over to Joanna Powell Colbert and Gaian Soul because she has some really good writing about it. And yes, I’m going to add photos for November also in a day or two.

So, I’ve spent a lot of time online to watch paranormal investigation programs… hold on, got to get my bread out of the oven!

And back again, I hope they turned out good. Where was I? Oh yes, paranormal. There are a lot of those programs around on tv and on the internet. Good and bad, interesting and, well, not so interesting. But something that seems to come back in some TV-shows sent in the US as far as I’ve seen, and I’m not saying that all of them are like this, but those I’ve seen so far have shown a lot of it. Have you any other good ones to share so be my guest and add a link to them in the comments below. I’m not going to add links or give names here, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine. Is it only me, or have the demons and devils, preferably with a capital D, sort of magnified with later years? At the beginning it was more like finding out if a place was  haunted, trying to prove or debunk, and if it was find something to show it was and who/what. And it was ghosts, spirits, entities and not a question if they were evil or not to begin with.

More and more it’s about getting physical proof, preferably scratches or other marks on your body. And if they happen to knock or give three scratches it’s a demon or other bad entity. So if I knock on a door rapidly three times, am I a demon/evil entity then? Why do we try to find evil in all places all of a sudden? If you investigate a hospital for the mentally ill that’s been there a long time, wouldn’t it be pretty obvious that who or whatever is there might be confused and not knowing where and why they are there? It has nothing to do with evil then, just confused and aggressive spirits that might do the same thing they did when they were still alive. And we can’t just oversee with the fact that we ourselves can create certain things because we expect it to be so. Strange sounds, well abandoned buildings and old houses can create a lot of noise and bumps all by themselves. Trust me, if you ever lived in an old house with timber you know they have a habit of talking to themselves and no spirits involved at all. So why go all wide-eyed and look like a fool because you think it was a spirit making that noise?

I’ve been looking at a TV-show all new to me, and I’m not at all impressed so far. One of the participants is so jumpy he would see/hear/feel entities all over the place if someone told him that the place was supposedly haunted, in broad daylight too. If I sent him to the house where my dad grew up and told him I’ve heard/felt something there he would go evil and portals all over the place probably. Yes, there have been things happening there, and the Gods only know what has happened there long before there was any permanent living there either. But all in all it’s a very friendly place as far as I can tell. A little scary late nights in fall and winter when there is not much light besides the stars and the moon. But if you are already… how should I say this? If you already, in your mind, is convinced there is a haunted place, you can create a lot all by yourself. You interpret sounds and add your own feelings and fears to it and all of a sudden you have a whole different meaning to it. But it might be a lot more mundane and non-spiritual than you want to think. Not everything that is dark is evil, that would be terrible if that was the case. So is it mostly to sell the show that you do that, presume/make things that is dark evil just because it sells better?

One episode of a show they went to Ireland and a cave that had something to do with the goddess Morrigan. One of the members immediately asked if she was “demonic” since what is known about her isn’t that cuddly and nice all the time. The woman who presented the place for them tried to explain some about this goddess but the guy went on with “is she demonic?” To some, she probably will be seen as that, and all the other gods and goddesses in the world not belonging to the almighty father of christianity and his son. But please, just stop interpreting all you can’t see or understand as evil or anything beginning with a D. Yes, there are dark energies, entities and such, but not automatically evil. The dark has always scared humankind more or less and there has always been attempts to explain and understand that part, but naming it evil just because you don’t understand it or you are afraid of it wont help.

And yes, there are probably different dimensions, portals between those too and a lot of other stuff, but not all over the place and at every place that are presumed haunted. And yes again, you can create and invoke things you can’t handle if you haven’t got an idea of what you are doing/”playing” with. I like the paranormal stuff, but not the ones where they are just trying to find evil D and trying to make every sound into a spirit. I would like to be able to follow a group of people with their heads screwed on right about this and see for myself how they work with this. One day perhaps.

So, just to change from the previous subject of the week we’ll jump over to something else, on the spirit side. Or is it?

Charlie Charlie

Charlie Charlie

I don’t know, this Charlie, Charlie challenge hasn’t really made me excited in any way. Feels more like, been there done that. But when I was in my early teens or so, it was called Bloody Mary. Some of you might remember it, when you had a friend (or several) in the bathroom and you would turn off the light, except a candle, and try and stare into the mirror and chanting Bloody Mary three times. She was supposed to show herself in the mirror. What usually happened was one or two ran out from there screaming because they thought they had seen her. We all know that probably they had seen one of the others move, or perhaps their nerves got the better of them and their imagination ran off with them. Mostly it was a way to get a scare, because you wanted to have it in some way. To be real honest I didn’t do this very often, a couple of times at the most, and I wasn’t impressed either.

Interesting to read about the challenge and what is behind it all when it comes to this Charlie. I hope he isn’t real since even spirits must grow tired of people asking for their presence at all times, or at least I imagine so. I found an article on Live Science about it that talked about this and at Snopes.

On Live Science they try to explain how this phenomenon works, and I’m not going to argue against it, it’s like working with pendulums sort of, you can use your will and tiny movements of your fingers or hands to make it move in any way you want really. Not that you are aware of it all the time. Perhaps that is why I’m not using a pendulum much these days, I know I can make it answer whatever I like and I don’t know if I’m going to trust it. Divination rods are a little different in my world. Ok, they are also sensitive to movements, or if you go around searching water you walk around so holding them firm enough to keep them from twisting all over your hands but loose enough so they can move is a delicate balance act. Yet I know that I’ve found out things by using them and got confirmation that I was right so maybe our physical body acts as a conductor for the energy field that is sent out by water and other sources like that and those rods just give us the indicating tool, just as you would use some electrical gadget to get the same answer? Just my thoughts, if anyone believe something else it’s a free world.

Ouija

Ouija

Ouija is also mentioned at Live Science as something controlled by our own minds and movements we’re not aware of. Maybe and maybe not. I don’t argue against the fact that it could be the participants that makes it move, a glass or the planchette doesn’t matter, but could it be something similar as the divination rods? We get the messages because our physical bodies react to something in the energy around us? Just thinking out loud here so it’s not a fact or proof for something. I’ve never been one to play around with Ouija either. Never felt any need for it. And then there is that thought in my mind that, if there is a spirit world, or some other dimension we get in touch with at times like that, we don’t know what or who they really are. Some things that happens when, lets say teenagers, play around with stuff like that, is they scare each other many times and they jump really high at ordinary sounds and lights flashing by. But there are times when there is something strange happening and maybe they open up a door/portal to something that they don’t know anything about and because of that they aren’t capable of handling it. Whatever it is or not, don’t meddle with things you don’t know how to handle. You might get more than you are prepared for and then calling someone to help you out might not be so fun after all. At least not explaining why you did things that people have been warning others from doing all over the place for years.

There haven’t happened much lately at this place, mostly everyday life and some planning for daughters birthday. And the realization that it is fall and winter is coming with shorter and colder days. It’s been snowing some today but it doesn’t stay, cold enough anyway. But that wasn’t what this is going to be about. If you don’t believe in spirits of nature and such I suggest you stop reading here, it will be about whatever we want to call them and what it could have been I encountered perhaps 3 or 4 weeks ago when it was still warm enough to go for a walk with camera in hand without having so much clothes on.

Have you ever been walking out in nature at a place where you are fairly familiar with the surroundings and all of a sudden feel that there is more out there than can be seen with your physical eyes? I have, on several occasions actually. The first time during this fall was when I was out walking late at night and just felt in the dark how so many “eyes” looked at me and I mentally stretched out my awareness and felt a connection with all that was there. Magical! What it was I don’t know, I just assume some sort of nature spirits and maybe animals. And I do have a habit to sort of send out greetings and thoughts to trees and such when I pass them by on my walks because I feel sort of familiar with them. Seen them change over the years and with the seasons, just like friends you have regular contact with. And no, this isn’t something “new” to me, I’ve felt the connection before but maybe not in the same way as below.

September 17, 2014 06

Back to this most recent time when I got a response I have never had before, that I can remember now at least, not in this way. I was walking down by the river as usual, taking photos and just enjoying the feeling of being able to stretch out and move at my own pace, that makes some people a little annoyed because they think I walk too fast. So I arrive at a place where there are a group of trees on each side of this path, and it’s nothing strange with that, same trees, nice weather and a great day. But I do that thing and stretched my mind out towards them and saying “hi, great to see you again” and then there is this feeling of something or someone reaching out back towards me, touching my forehead/third eye in response. There isn’t anything bad about it, just friendly and if I describe it as a greeting back and a recognition of my presence and that I’m familiar and a friend, someone who will understand and treat them with respect. Peculiar feeling but I would love to be able to do it again. Maybe I have to wait until spring since they are preparing to go to sleep now for the winter. The photo on the left is taken at another time, the day I got this touch was a day of sunshine, the place is the same just a little closer.

Just popped up a memory from when my daughter was perhaps 4 or so, and we were walking back home from a friend. We went through the forest since that was the easiest way to go with her sled. She didn’t really want to sit behind me because she was afraid of the dark. That was when I stopped and told her to think about how it felt standing there in the darkness. Was there anything that felt threatening, besides the darkness? Continued to tell her that the trees where sleeping and there wasn’t any animals big enough to be a threat to her and whatever was in the dark was probably curious, cautious and keeping low if she was a dangerous creature. But if there would be anything wishing us harm, we would feel it. I don’t know if she believed me or felt it the way I did and do, but hopefully it was of some help even if she’s still a little afraid of the dark.

Still, that feeling of touch was amazing, whatever or whoever it was. If you ever have, or will be, in that same situation you will understand how I felt. Putting in some more photos that could be the home or face of some creature of the forest.

Ok, it’s been quite some time again since last. This time it’s been a combination of extreme heat, lack of inspiration and well, many other things happening that has made me forget about writing. And at this very moment I’m going nuts because of some auto-correct that has decided to kick in and adamantly changing words beginning with a W and some others, should without exception be spelled in a capital. Really annoying! I hope I can find out where to change that.

Otherwise then? It’s been really hot for a month or so, no rain except for short spells and no change in heat. Even my daughter who loves to be outside and play stayed inside until the afternoon or so. Way to hot even for her. It’s been sort of a lovely time even if I’m no big fan of that extreme heat but as a compensation for the not so fun start it’s been ok. Now we are heading for cooler temperatures and school is about to start all over again. But before that we have had time with a meeting of most of my cousins from my mothers side. Great fun and a span in age from late 30 to past 60. As one of the wifes of one of my cousins put it “You are a strange lot, you might not have met for 15 or 20 years, or at all with some, and then you meet and it is as if you started the conversation where you left out last time!” And some other interesting things was hearing about my grandparents history, where they started out and where they moved later, seeing the place even if it’s not exactly the same any longer. And to count to 29 cousins and 24 of them come is really great.

Ghost_Hunters_logoBut over to the subject that I had in mind. Yes, I’m interested in the paranormal and I had the chance now that my computer doesn’t run red hot in 5 minutes because of the heat indoors I’ve been able to watch some different tv shows, among them Ghost Hunters with T.A.P.S. I must admit they are among my favorites. They have a way of treating things professionally, using their own senses as well as technical equipment but not assuming that it will be paranormal without trying at least to find a natural explanation. How many who claim to have seen apparitions and shadows have thought about high EMF ratings, knocking explained by pipes and other things like that? I know from my own experience that it’s hard to tell sometimes, is it a reflection in a pair of glasses, car lights passing or something else, or is it something not of this world?

Others I’ve been watching lately and since before are Ghost Adventures, Most Haunted, The Dead Files and A Haunting. The difference between them are pretty wide. In Ghost Adventures we see these three guys going from one haunted place to another and it is interesting too. Differences between them and Ghost Hunters would be, besides they both have a lot of technical stuff, that these guys are more provoking, try to force some kind of reaction and many times find “bad” spirits or what some call “demonic” activity. Still interesting though.

So, Most Haunted, a british tv-series that I don’t know if it still is around, I checked and it seems like there will be new material coming. I found it interesting in the beginning when I could watch it several years ago, mainly because there wasn’t many programs on tv where you could see paranormal things that was documentary and not some movie. With time I grew a little tired of them, to much hysterical screaming, theatrical acts from a medium and seances with glasses and stuff. Not to mention how many times they had poltergeist activity and other things happening. Ok, they were at many interesting and historical places, but I do think that the spirits doesn’t wait for anyone to show up and do something to prove their existence just because a tv-team shows up. I have some memory of reading something about things were set up and made more interesting than they actually were.

The Dead Files is another one I discovered recently, I don’t know really what to say about it. I like the research made about the places, if there is something that has happened and so, and the fact that they try to avoid having photos and other personal stuff visible for Amy when she’s there trying to find out what is there, if it is something. Fake or not, time will tell.

So finally there is A Haunting, not any ghost hunting in this, more like accounts from eye witnesses  about things they’ve heard, seen or experienced in their homes or other places. True or not, but I started wondering if there is something especially wrong in the US since so many places seems to have some kind of “evil” entities residing. Or is it just the fact that people are more interested in finding “evil” things there? I guess we have our fair share of spirits that is not so friendly, just that it doesn’t turn into some tv-show here. And how come that everything is labeled as “evil” or “demonic”?

tumblr_inline_mxkg1c3b6H1su5ae7Yes, I have my share of experiences too since childhood, some of them I can probably find a natural explanation for today, and as an adult, but some still leaves a ? after. I don’t know actually, a creation of a vivid imagination and finding the dark scary, maybe situations where you are somewhere between sleeping and awake, that dream state where so many things can happen. Still I can’t explain away being shooed out of one room and arriving to the bedroom and feeling a presence there too trying to get me out of there. Not in any bad way, just wanted me to leave. I got a little irritated at that moment and told whatever was there that it was my room and I was going to bed, thank you! The reaction was sort of funny, almost as if someone was saying “Oh, sorry!” and disappeared. There has been other things happening too but this is long enough by now. I think you want to do something else before it’s time for bed.

Well, it’s summer, just let us stick to that. Sooner than will be really fun school starts over again and then there wont be so much time to be outside enjoying the summer.

I got myself a new phone, old one started to literary fall into pieces, otherwise I would really have liked to keep it. But it’s no fun chasing

Tree stump with mushroom

Tree stump with mushroom

bits and pieces of it every time you drop it on the floor or on the ground. Excuse me sir, you’re standing on the front of my phone… oh, thank you! Lets see then, where did the rest go? So now I’m a smartphone owner… and not feeling very technical about it. I have a feeling my daughter knows a lot more about those than I do! I also found out where that memory card was in the old phone, just one mistake, I didn’t check out where and when the photos in the old one was taken so now I have a lot of those with no clue as to where and when. Some are really funny, others are something else. Or complete failures.

NSRW Phases of the Moon

Today I tried to find out what kind of apps there are for phones, besides games and Goddess know what else. And stumbled over something called Ghost Hunter. Ok, I’m into ghosts, that’s true, but are these just for fun or can you actually use them for real? Trying to find out, so if anyone knows anything about them or tried them yourselves, I’m happy for any information. So far I’ve downloaded one with moon phases that also tells me what astrological sign we’re in, element, Goddess and ruling planet. Nothing advanced, just had to try and see how things like this works. Remember I’m a complete beginner when it comes to this! And yes, I’m careful I know there are bad things out there in the world of smartphones just as there are here on the internet. Looking for a good antivirus program for the new “toy” just to be on the safe side.

And talking about ghosts, and now those of you who don’t believe in these just pass this passage by so you wont have to be upset over someone believing there is such a thing. There was something odd happening late yesterday. I was home alone since daughter had a chance to see her big sister one more time this summer, and I’m not sure what I was doing at that moment, besides being out on the internet and maybe on Facebook. There was something anyway, that just got me thinking of my dad and getting the feeling that he was beside me and I just wanted to let go of the computer for a couple of seconds to rest my head on his shoulder, giggling over some internal joke/memory. This is the first time as I can recall having a feeling of him being so close. My husband is another matter, he was very much present shortly after his death and on and off after that. But my dad, no, never until now. For real or not, it felt very real to me.

Next week will be Lammas, Lugh, Lughnasad or whatever you want to call it, feels like the Summer Solstice, Litha, was just some weeks ago and yet I feel like fall is just around the corner. Wondering in one moment how all the tomatoes will have time to ripe and in the next reminding myself that it’s just the end of July yet, calm down! Time is flying fast and I think I’m not really hanging on all the time. Well, whatever else is happening dinner is a must, just had a call from a young one who was asking for something to eat when she’s back home. You think homemade pizza will be ok?

I sat here reading one of my earlier posts, Samhain, and suddenly a memory pops up. A memory that is both sad and fun at the same time… I had read some for my daughter who was in my bed as she had started to sleep there from the  first night when her dad went to hospital and never came back home in physical form. I guess many kids would do like she did, wonder what was happening when you die, where do you go, what does it look like? And sure enough, it was her dad, she was allowed to ask, had to ask, it’s part of the grieving process. So I tried to explain a little of how I look at it, that some people call it Heaven and I call it Summerland. That I see it as a beautiful place where nature is still untouched by man and we live in  harmony with all and everything.

One of the last photos of him

Since her dad, and my husband, was very much into bowling and most of all fishing, fly-fishing to be more precise, I told her that he probably had a bowling alley there somewhere and had lots of friends, old and new, that kept him company. He’s also out fishing and get big fishes, salmon, trout and all kinds of fish. And then I went on to tell her that those fishing lines wasn’t causing problems any longer. And in that same moment I could hear his voice in my head and I’m telling my daughter that “You know what your dad just said? He says that, Oh yes, they do!” And going from tears of sorrow over to a heartfelt laughter because she could recognize her dad in those words.

It’s hard writing those words now because they are painful but at the same time I know he’s ok, wherever he is, he’s ok. It’s the people he loved, and was loved by, that is having the pain and sorrow popping up now and then. But life does go on, one day at a time, and some days are better and some not as good. But we have to keep living, we can’t just lie down and stop living because we lost someone dear to us. We will not make anyone happier just because we stop living our lives. Feel the pain and sorrow, let the tears run freely and then when you feel better again, dry your tears and remember the good times and the love that you shared.

True words
